National Association of Biology Teachers’ Annual Convention

Meet with 1500 biology and life science educators in many venues – sessions, exhibits, and field trips. 

Biology and life science teachers from around the world attend the National Association of Biology Teachers’ Annual Convention. The program includes more than 350 general sessions, including, general sessions, invited speakers, symposiums, hands-on workshops, demonstrations, and papers … intended for audiences from the elementary school level to the university level and everything in between … covering 25 different subject areas.

 

In addition to the regular sessions, there will be 20 special in-depth workshops that require advance registration.

 

Among the many speakers lined up for this year’s Convention are:  

  • Elaine Ostrander (Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, Seattle, Washington) with a presentation on “The Canine Genome: Progress and Promise;”

  • Sue Dale Tunnicliffe (University of London, London, United Kingdom) speaking on “English Children’s Understanding of the Natural World;”

  • Nina Jablonski (California Academy of Sciences, San Francisco, California) with a presentation on “Human Skin Color and Natural Selection;”

  • Barry Lynn (Americans United for the Separation of Church & State, Washington, DC) speaking on “Science Yes: Religion No: The Creationism Debate in Schools;”

  • Kevin Petti (San Diego Miramar College, San Diego, California) with a presentation “Man’s Changing Image: The Historical Influence of Culture on Anatomy;”

  • Kent Thornburg (Oregon Health & Science University, Portland, Oregon); and

  • Roberta A. Pagon (University of Washington, Pediatrics Department, Seattle, Washington.

The deadline for advanced registration is September 7, 2003.
