  • Bend Research not only tests their theories in the labs but also creates methods to manufacture pharmaceutical products. This tour will highlight the engineering and manufacturing side of their business and will include a look at the types of equipment they use and develop as well as the processes which they've engineered to become an industry leader. At Bend Research's engineering pilot plant, the company develops process and scale up technologies, in addition to designing and constructing new equipment to meet specific needs.
  • Bend Research, a business unit of Capsugel, is a research and development lab that has been innovating in the pharmaceutical industry (as well as other industries) for over 30 years. One of the technologies that they are world experts in is making drug compounds more bioavailable within a person’s body so that they can actually become therapies. This tour will highlight the type of tests scientists may perform to ensure effectiveness and safety of their work. This is a good tour to join if you are coming into Bend on Hwy 20 from Sisters because the facility is located near Tumalo.

At Bend Research R&D and analytical laboratories, scientists focus on formulation science, conceiving, developing and characterizing customized solutions that meet clients’ needs for advanced pharmaceutical technologies.
  • Chimps, Inc. is one of eight USDA regulated, chimpanzee sanctuaries in North America with accreditation by the North American Primate Sanctuary Alliance. All of the animal residents were rescued from either the exotic pet trade or the entertainment industry. They have come to Chimps Inc. to live out their life without further exploitation. Our mission is to bring about awareness through conservation, advocacy and education.

During this tour, you will meet the animals, learn about their stories, tour the sanctuary facility, and be given an educational outreach presentation that demo's a typical classroom visit made by Chimps Inc. Education Outreach Program, where you can have Chimps Inc. visit your classroom for a unique educational opportunity.
  • Curious about how fine craft brews are made? Crux Fermentation Project brings fermentation beyond science and makes it an art form. This tour will highlight their process and will allow up-close looks at the equipment they use and the decisions they make to develop memorable aromas and flavors in their fine product. Experience craft brew from its "birth" of raw ingredients, through its fermentation and aging, to it's enjoyable consumption.
